 Shawnee is a GREAT place to experience
the natural beauty of the Delaware River by canoe, raft or tube.
Unique in being the only resort located on a 100 mile stretch of the Delaware
River, we're surrounded on three sides by the Delaware
Water Gap National Recreation Area. If you want to "Do the River," then Shawnee is
the place!
You can take a day trip or an overnight
trip of varying duration by canoe.
Day trips are also available by river raft or tubes. The Delaware
River's steady current will carry the most inexperienced paddler
downstream easily without the anxiety of whitewater. This gentle
flow allows everyone to take in the beauty afforded by the land on both
sides of the river that has been left natural and untouched. The
river itself is also sparkling pure and clean.
The river season runs from Memorial Day
to about October 15. The gorgeous
sights you will enjoy on the river near Shawnee include waterfalls and
the majestic Delaware Water Gap itself. Though the river
conditions vary according to the season and runoff from recent rainfalls
in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, paddlers of all levels will be
comfortable on the Delaware.
