Red Barons Baseball
Baseball fans can get back to their roots with a visit to the Lackawanna County Stadium in
Wilkes-Barre, home of the Scranton &
Wilkes-Barre Red Barons Triple "A" baseball team. The stadium is state-of-the-art with thousands of unrestricted views of
some of the most exciting baseball you’ll ever see. The Red Barons are the triple "A" club of the
Philadelphia Phillies.
The season begins in April and runs through September. Among the visiting teams

F.M. Kirby Center
Broadway shows, blockbuster concerts and
special events await you at the F.M. Kirby Center in center-city
Wilkes-Barre, just 55 minutes from Shawnee. The center presents
touring National Companies of Broadway Shows, national pop and rock
acts, local and regional groups. The F.M. Kirby Center is located at 71

Racing at
Pocono Raceway,
in Long Pond, PA has been open to the public since 1968. For a current

Crystal Cave
The Crystal Cave
in Kutztown is open from March to November. Just 65 minutes from
Shawnee, the cave offers visitors a unique combination of milky white
stalactite, stalagmite, and dripstone formations. Visitors will see
delicate flutings and superb ornamentation in a thousand tints and
shades of color, all enhanced by indirect lighting. The 45-minute guided
tour takes visitors along concrete walkways with steel railings. In
addition to the tour, the facility offers a playground, nature trail and

Crayola FACTORY®
Less than 45 minutes
from Shawnee Village is
The Crayola FACTORY®
at Two Rivers Landing in Easton, PA. This 20,000 square foot family
discovery center specializes in creative and imaginative fun for
kids of all ages. You can see actual crayons being manufactured
along with dozens of hands-on exhibits and activities. Exhibits
include the Crayola Hall of Fame, which is an interactive media
maze packed with motion and light sensors, a mini-laboratory
showcasing color change technology and a hands-on classroom. The

Steamtown
National Historic Site
About an hour north of Shawnee Village is the Steamtown
National Historic Site and Museum in
downtown Scranton. Open year-round, the park offers a trip back
in time to the era of American migration and growth. Located in
the former railroad yards of the Delaware, Lackawanna &
Western Railroad, visitors can sample the sights, sounds and
history of railroading. You can watch mechanics inspect and
repair Steamtown’s operating locomotives and ready them for
excursions and yard work inside the restored Roundhouse.
In the Technology Museum,
discover how steam railroading worked, from running a
steam
locomotive to repairing the tracks and how the tools have
changed over the years. The park offers families an opportunity
to take an actual locomotive excursion on Friday, Saturday,
Sunday and Holidays from mid-May to early September and then on
Saturday and Sundays through early November. For more information

A permanent amphitheater has been constructed
and opened in 2000 to house the concert series, with a seating
